All About Miniature Australian Shepherds! 🐾

Size: 15–35 lbs, Mini Aussie’s are a medium sized family dog.

Shedding: Seasonal. You will see a change in the amount of hair around the house every Spring and Summer.

Barking: Low, generally quiet unless they are playing and doing what they love!

Experience Level: Suitable for those with experience with herding breeds.

Children: Good, Mini Australian Shepherds are friendly and family-oriented. If you get them in the back yard with all the kids, you might just see their herding skills in action.

Apartment Living: With lots of exercise, enrichment, and training, Australian Shepherds can do well in an apartment.

Other Pets: Mini Aussie’s do great with other pets in the home.

Training: Easy. Mini Aussie’s are intelligent, cooperative, and eager to learn.

Fun Facts!

Despite the name, these dogs are 100% American. They were developed in California in the 1960s by breeding down smaller versions of the Australian Shepherd.
They are famous for having “mismatched” eyes (heterochromia). It is common for a single dog to have one blue eye and one brown eye, or even a single eye with multiple colors “marbled” together.
They are frequently ranked among the most intelligent dogs. Many owners report they can learn a new command or trick in as little as two short training sessions.
